A Simple, Quick and Effective Way
to White Balance Your Digital Camera

Have you ever felt frustrated after you had a great shoot only to find out when you printed them that all the pictures were not color corrected? The skin tones were either too yellow, green or red in tone? I think that this has happened to everyone!

Yes, you can carry one of these large gray cards which is so inconvenient, or set your camera to autowhite balance which is inconsistent at best in determining the white balance.

For many years I relied on my Canon Digital Camera’s auto white balance setting, but got tired of spending so many hours of color correcting in Photoshop and Lightroom. One day a photographer friend introduced me to the expodisc white balance. Now, I am using it all the time for my professional assignments as well as many of my personal pictures.

At the time I bought the expodisc 77mm, which was a neutral disc for my Canon 5d and Canon 20d camera lenses, and since then I purchased the expodisc 77mm portrait filter. With the portrait white balance disc it adds just a small amount of warming tone to the skin tone. I also use this portrait disc when I am photographing landscapes too because it adds a subtle warmth with these images as well.

How do you know what size filter you should purchase?

The way to check the filter size is to look at your lens. The expodisc comes in many sizes from 52mm to 95mm. The most common is the expodisc 77mm. I recommend either getting the exact size that you need or a little larger if you think that you will be purchasing a wider diameter lens in the future.

Although it has a bayonet mount, where you put the expodisc at the end of the lens, you could easily just place it in front of the lens when you are doing the white balance calibration. That’s what I do on many occasions when I have to do a quick white balance.

We hope that this information has been helpful, and hope you give it a try if you want more professional results with your pictures. Remember, that you are backed by a 100% Money Back Guarantee if you are not happy in any way with this product through Amazon.
